You should eliminate the Corvette if the Boss and the Cayman are the other choices.

The Boss is pretty fuckin awesome, and a good track tool

The Cayman is pretty fuckin awesome, and a good track tool

The only thing is that the Cayman is a first year/first generation model, which might mean all of the kinks weren't worked out then. But pretty much everyone says they're just as reliable as the later models.

Why should the Vette Be eliminated if the BOSS and Cayman are choices? The BOSS could go Toe to Toe with the Vette.

Also how expensive is Cayman Maintenance?

Because the Boss and Cayman are cooler.

Upon further inspection of the advertisments, fuck that Cayman. It's a base model with 70k miles and a sticker on the hood that screams douche owner/dealer.

Get that Boss, seems like a solid car.

Boss 302:

Pros: Cool as hell, V8 with quad exhausts, maintenance is very cheap.

Cons: Mileage, and it being a Boss probably means it was abused everyday.

Chevette:

Pros: Cool as hell, V8.

Cons: Milage, practicality.

Boxster:

Pros: Flat 6, handling.

Cons: Expensive if anything goes wrong, no LSD, practicality, Mileage.

Conclusion: Find either a Boss 302 or a Corvette with lower milage.

I feel like we've been here before...

Anyways:

Boss

Pros: It's a fuckin BOSS, V8, 2+2, Mustang, think of the tracks and the days, bruh

Con: It's a fuckin Mustang, stereotypes and stigmas apply

Vette

Pros: It's more of a sports car?

Con: 2-seater, it's not really cool, or a C2, C3, or C7

Cayman

Pros: It's a Porsche! Mid engine, RWD, manual, flat-6 sound is sex, they handle like amazeballs

Cons: It may be difficult to do maint. on engine because location, it's a early car so IMS/RMS better be in check.

I know someone who owns a Cayman of that generation, and ive read that those are prone to get some internal engine part worn out pretty badly.

1. Boss A. It will retain value best. B. It is track focused, yet a lot more practical than the Vette. C. It is not as likely to be recalled as the Vette, nor is it as likely to break down like the Porsche. D. Dat sound.

2. Porsche A. It is not a Chevy. B. You'll like a douche, but that is better than looking like the 60 year old that hits on every teen girl at the drive-thru.

3. Corvette A. It is a Chevy. B. You'll look like the 60 year old guy that hits on every teen girl at the drive-thru.

I'm a little biased but... The Boss!!! It's a really special and awesome car. And just think, get a pair of GT500 axlebacks, take out the side pipe restrictor plates, use the track key and you have one nasty sounding Mustang. Think of the lopey idle! It's awesome on my Dad's 14 with the track cal tune. It actually shakes the whole car.

I would be worried about the Cayman's maintenance cost. That could become expensive. And I'm not a huge Vette fan so I'm not going to comment.

Here's the pro on the Boss which is a con for everything else - insurance. A Boss will most likely be in a much lower bracket than a Vette or Cayman.

Kinja'd!!! Axial > Cherry_man1

Porsche Cayman is probably really fun, but it's also silver, expensive to maintain, and far less practical than the other two on account of having less cargo space, no rear seats, and/or being semi-exotic and therefore anxiety-inducing to drive in inclement weather. Cayman is one of those cars where I couldn't stand a used one; I'd have to order one with exactly the options I want on it.

The Corvette is going to be a easier to maintain than the Porsche. but it is an early model C6 and the post-2008 ones are better deals. That's when the LS3 came out, granting 30 more horsepower and other minor improvements. 2010 grants much improved interiors. Etc., etc. Basically, when shopping C6 (and C5), you want as new as possible because there is nothing endearing about the earlier ones.

The Boss is a semi-limited production vehicle with a neat motor and a nice blue color. Ford parts are more expensive than Chevy parts, usually, so there's that, but I think it's more special than an early model C6 and a generic-looking Cayman. I'd probably get the Boss 302.

Really focus on the RMS/IMS Porsche Tamer mentions. If you get a Cayman of the last gen, you really want an S. And you really want an +'09 S. The Boss will retain it's value best, and will be more practical. I tend to trust the opinions of many of the down to earth car journalists like Farah, Lieberman, Lago, and Harris. And those guys all agree the fiesta ST, the Boss 302, the BMW 135is/1M/235i M, and the porsche 911 GT3 are the best bangs for their bucks in their respective price brackets in terms of performance bargains and overall goodness. A corvette is a corvette, and if you like a corvette, nothing else really makes sense (young or old). A corvette can be a lot of things for a lot of people (especially T-tops) (mustangs can be the same way). There are many labels people put on the owners of all these options, but you need to buy this car for you. Anything but a Camry doesn't make sense to 98% of the public, and 1.5% only really likes the cars they own (that's the majority of car forums, youtube commenters, and car blog commenters. So test drive them and consider the running costs (looking at that cayman) and pick the one that will make you grin like an idiot while you drive, and then turn back for another quick glance as you walk away.

Boss

Pro: You would own one of 4000 cars built. It is Grabber Blue. If you remove the baffle in the side exhaust outlet it sounds like it has an aftermarket exhaust. Recaro seats. Only car where you can an argument to your future spouse that kids could sit in the back. Arguably best Mustang ever built.

Con: It is just a Mustang to the masses. That blue will attract unwanted friends with lights. Might not want to mod due to rarity. Most expensive of the bunch. I'm trying to find more cons but I can't because the Boss is one of my all time favorite cars.

Corvette

Pro: Feels like it is faster than a built (driven several variants all be it briefly). Targa top makes for some excellent scenic trips possibly with a gf in passenger seat. Storage space for miles. Purpose built American sports car. That LS will be able to take a lot of mods.

Con: It's just a base Vette. No heads up display. Seats while comfy are lacking lumbar support. If you decide to go the Vette route There are a lot of cars on the market to choose from not really a con but something to consider. Again hard to criticize the car because you chose one of the cars I've always lusted after. My personal favorite generation of Corvette.

Porsche

Pro: It's a Porsche. The car is lightweight. Excellent handling prowess. Cheapest of the three on the list. Steering will tell you everything you want to know. It is a precision tool. Flat six has an engine note all it's own. Excellent storage space for a vacation.

Con: Hard to work on if you're Shadetree mechanic. You will almost certainly have to go to a car for him to learn more about the car. You have to get it inspected before you buy it. It is just the base engine so it is down on power. You can't see the engine see you can't marvel at the engineering might not bother some people but it bothers me. Suggest you get a copy of Excellence magazine from Barnes & Noble if you decide to go the Porsche route.

This is an incredibly hard decision to make I'm glad I'm not the one making it. You're going to have to test drive all three if you plan on making a purchase. Or sell your car and then you'll know better where you stand finically. Money can be very persuasive when you make a decision.
